About me
Harald Nusser joined Merck in June 2024 as the Head of Global Health and Health Equity, based in Berlin, Germany. In this role, he collaborates closely with global and local teams across Merck to develop innovative solutions for global health challenges and improve healthcare systems, creating long-term value for patients and society.
A seasoned healthcare executive, Harald has extensive global experience in health equity and social business. His expertise includes Family Planning, Malaria, HIV, Leprosy, and Visceral Leishmaniasis. Before joining Merck, he led Gilead’s Global Patients Solutions team, managing operations in over 100 Low and Middle-Income Countries and developing innovative commercialization strategies for HIV and visceral leishmaniasis elimination efforts in collaboration with the World Health Organization. At Novartis, he directed malaria programs, reaching over 30 million patients annually. He previously held strategic and commercial roles at Bayer, after having initiated his career at Schering.
Alongside his corporate career, Harald is Global Ambassador of the G20 Health & Development Partnership, Board Member of Pathfinder International, and Corporate Social Intrapreneur, Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, sister organization of the World Economic Forum.
Harald holds a PhD in Mathematics from the Free University in Berlin and an Executive MBA from the University of Bradford (UK).
